Should I get a gas or electric boiler? (really fascinating question!)

we are just about to install a new boiler, and could choose electric or gas. our old one was gas, the type that heats the water as it passes.

has anyone else done this recently?
does anyone know whether gas is more economical than an electric immersion boiler, and where could I start looking for unbiased information?

We had a Condensing Gas boiler fitted last December. We had several plumbers come round to quote as we had top move old boiler to meet new regs etc & bhad downstairs bathroom done at same time.

We were talked out of combi boilers - loads of friends with horror stories, mainly due to hard water probs. Our plumber would only fit them with a water softener. We had a new hot water tank put in, & don't have to worry about power cuts with gas!

I always thought gas was cheaper, but have no stats.

thank you milliways!

I thought gas boilers use electricity as well though for controllers, so not usable in a power cut?

You are probably right (maybe was thinking gas ovens!)
