Renault Megane Scenic

Me again with car questions.

We really like the look of these and they have good used reports too.

Would we be generally ok considering one with mileage of around 90 - 100 or not ??

Also what is the difference between a Megane scenic and a scenic, and do either have 7 seats ??

our x-reg scenic has 5 seats and we've done about 73,000 miles. it's in desperate need of a service atm but apart from that is a lovely car to drive and like being high up.

hi the new grand scenic has 7 seats. they have been out for just over a year now. i got mine in june last year. really good car and the 1.5dci (i have this one) is very economical. apparently just got voted most economical car in its class. they also do very well in the euro ncap safety tests. hth.

You probabaly won't get a 7 seater Grand Scenic 2nd hand yet - they only came out about a year- 18 months ago on the new shape body which itself is only about 2 years old, so one with 90k on the clock is the old shape (I'd hope!). Used to be branded as Megane Scenic as it shares the same chassis and engine but they dropped it to just Scenic, once the branding had established , but no real difference in the car. We have one which is nearly 4 years old and had 30k on the clock which seemed pretty normal. 90k seems highish and parts/servicing can be pricey on Renaults.

We really like it (had the 4wd version in Switzerland and now the normal one), it is very flexible so you can alter the seats/boot space easily and ours has lots of extras which make it very comfy to drive. They also rate high for safety and have 3 3-point belts in the back (although the middle one cuts high across the shoulder as it comes down from the ceiling).

hth

Just to say we have a Scenic (W) and it is quite easily the best car I've ever had (sad I know not like its a sporty little number is it?). But its so roomy, nobody is squashed up, plenty of room for toys etc etc, lots of little hidey holes in it for storage, lots of boot space, love the high up feeling and drives like a dream!!

hi
I have a r reg scenic and I know a few mners are not big fans but I love ours. Also has all the little extras like air con, electric windows etc great size car esp if you have tots in car seats..lol

nutcackle · 18/10/2005 22:12

Yeah think it is the old style one i was on about.

Me and dp both like them which is a first as we usually disagree, but have never had a renault so were a bit unsure.

Think we need to go have a good look at one.

We have had a scenic and a piscasso. Both are great cars and both are worth looking at. Try to get a diesl if you can, cheaper to run and lasts longer with highmileage. The picasso is lighter to drive than the scenic, the renault feels slighly more 'solid'. But I found when looking for a 2nd hand car there was more choice if I kept bothin mind, and the picasso was cheaper than a scenic (they are a slightly cheaper car anyway and there are more of them around, hence cheaper 2nd hand) We went for a car that we would keep until it dies! so we keep it well serviced etc. It has approx 75000 miles on the clock and is about 4 yrs old. At 1 yr old when we bought it, it was £9k (top of range diesl) with 30,000 miles. New would hae been nearly £16K so it was worth it

I love my Scenic!
Best thing about is that I don't wreck my back buckling the kids in.
Nice, high and roomy.
All I want from a car.

ive got a scenic and its fab. 02 reg.
The best thing is that when putting DD in her car seat I dont break my back trying to lift and bend at the same time. DH has a peugoet and when I use that its awful.
Plus its lovely being high up and loads of space in the back.
Not the sportiest of cars or one to pose in but by far the most functional.
