Does anyone have the espace?

If so can you tell me about it.

Also what carseats combos do you have in yours?

Thanks

Very old cars now.

We had one.

I would say noooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Mechanical and electrical hell hole.

midnightexpress · 21/02/2011 16:06

I have heard only bad things about them. When we were looking for our last car we considered it, and went for the Citroen Xsara Picasso instead. You can fit three car seats across the back (we didn't need to, but you can) and it has loads of boot space. It was fine, although we've just traded it in for a VW Passat estate. Our neighbours have the newer Citroen (C4 is it called?) and seem to be happy with it - they have 3 DC and it can also fit 3 seats in the back.

twolittlemonkeys · 21/02/2011 16:08

I've only heard bad things about them too. My mum and stepdad had one for about 6 months. Within a couple of years of being new the crumple zones just disintegrate so they don't protect you at all well in the event of an accident.

OADCB · 21/02/2011 16:09

Sorry I'm looking at the newer 04 model. 3k ish

Need 7 seats.

Seven seater i'd think about a Grandis if you can get one in your price range; our last seven seater was a Mitsubishi and it was absolutely amazing.

We've downgraded to a six seater now, a Multipla. if we went back up it would be the Grandis though.

midnightexpress · 21/02/2011 16:12

What about the bigger Citroen? I have a friend which 5 DC who has one and she seems happy with it. I think it's a C8 is it? I also have a friend with 6 DC who has the large Fiat and it doesn't seem to give her may problems.

midnightexpress · 21/02/2011 16:13

X-post. Ah, perhaps it's the Multipla she has. Not sure where she puts the extra DC though Roof rack perhaps. Grin.

yogididabooboo · 21/02/2011 16:15

We had an 07.

we adored it but we had the automatic version and only kept it 3 years so never had any problems with it at all.

ScramVonChubby · 21/02/2011 16:17

Multipla handles 4 children nicely, though you mustn't mind one in front centre with you.

Do check boot sizes on whatever you buy- some big cars have seriously tiny boot spaces.

OADCB · 21/02/2011 16:17

Thank you .

Do grande scenic , multipla or possible spacewagon (is that the one you had scram)

I had an espace. In fact I had two! Great cars... Nice to drive, practical, look ok. BUT, like other posters have said, electrical faults are very common with them. We had a few probs with the key cards that come with them. Sold our last one before it coat us any money to fix, but I guess if you do get one, then an aa inspection would be sensible, and make sure you get two key cards which work on the car. The replacement keys are physically not that expensive to replace but cost a fortune to reprogramme.

Good luck and hth!

OADCB · 21/02/2011 16:19

Yes boot size is a worry and 3k would mean some serious saving.

Mutipla is do tempting. What's the boot like?

Sales men keep trying to sell us zafiras which I know are common but I just hate the seats in the back. They would be used by stepchildren who are already quite tall/bulky for ages

midnightexpress · 21/02/2011 16:21

Yes, and I think there are safety issues with some of the 7 seaters when the back row seats are in use, aren't there? Some of the back rows are extremely close to the back window and there's not much protection in the event of an accident. I think it's the Zafira that's supposed to be particularly bad. Can't quite remember.

OADCB · 21/02/2011 16:23

Yes midnight I think you are right. My sister has one just a big worry.

We had spacewagon yes, only died in September which says a lot LOL with the age of them (garage described it as a sofa with a rocket attached!).

I'd have another low mileage spacewagon like a shot. But it did drink petrol so I don't suppose I could ever justify it really. Do check that.

yogididabooboo · 21/02/2011 16:32

The rear two seats on the zafira really can't be used other than for short periods and not particularly often.

We had one of these too

OADCB · 21/02/2011 19:51

Would just be once a week that all seats are used.

How does the car seats fit in zafira or grande scenic? Would they need to be refitted each time you move row to get in back?

OP posts:
OADCB · 21/02/2011 19:52

Also are there storage compartments that would inhibit use of car seat base because of leg prop

Thanks
