Cot Bumpers - I'm confused

Health visitors say not before 12 months (for same reasons as duvets etc.)..

The blurb on the packet says not after they can pull themselves up so they can't be used to climb out of a cot.....

So when the heck can you use them???

i use mine now so that ds can't shove his legs through the sides or hit his head

he is 8 months. i tuie it loosely at the top so that if he tried to stand on it or pull on it too hard it just comes down...

I never used one either..just didnt see the point of paying out for one.

I've never bought one either kama but I've just been watching DS sleep with his head squished against the hard bars. He looks so happy but surely that's got to be a little bit uncomfy!

Not so long ago, my parents bought this really cool jungle themed one to go with DS's room but I decided to send it back when I saw what it said. Sometimes I wonder if I'm a bit OTT on safety. I'm not sure it's worth getting one now. DS will probably be out of his cot in not much more than 6 months.
Anyway, bump will be along next year, all being well and I'll be wondering all over again.

I got one for DS when he started to roll. I got it because I used to find DS's legs hanging from the cot all the time, it didn't help though.

However, it did help to avoid him waking up every time he hit himself with the cot bars (almost twice an hour). I believe if he had been less mobile while sleeping I would have not used any at all.
