That one, that one, or that one?

We have been looking at what to get DS for his 1st birthday next month and have decided we would like to get him a rocker (the only thing, but something that will last him and be, hopefully, a treasured possession) We have been looking in Mamas and Papas. But I am concerned that the one we like ducky won't have as much longevity as this one cute donkey .

Now DS seems to love ducks, and indeed the only sound he so far imitates is quack quack. However, the horse seemed to have a bit more of a 'rock' to it and would look nicer in our lounge! But then I also saw this one boat which was rather nice too.

My decision making skills are shocking, so once again I am turning to MN to try and get some sensible and informed advice. Thanks for listening (god I sound like I should be on Ebay!).

Go for the donkey - by far the cutest!

LadyTophamHatt · 16/10/2005 20:07

Ohhh, the donkey definatley.

SoupDragon · 16/10/2005 20:07

Donkey. It looks rather more "classic"

WigWamBam · 16/10/2005 20:08

The ducky one looks as if a child would outgrow it really quickly and I think the boat is a bit gimmicky (the best boats are made from cardboard boxes ). I like the donkey best - much more classy.

Frizbe · 16/10/2005 20:08

donkey!

gingerbear · 16/10/2005 20:10

what about the pony? (Kiddiecare have the ducky cheap too...or should that be quack?)

soapbox · 16/10/2005 20:12

What about snake rocker its really cute and quite reasonably priced?????

SoupDragon · 16/10/2005 20:14

Nooooo, stick with something horse like.

FrightfullyPoshFloss · 16/10/2005 20:17

SB, I know its just a guid but that one says 18months? And thanks for the link GB, its quite a lot cheaper I think, but I think the donkey is sooo sweet. Me and DP might end up rowing about this. Think he thinks we should get the quack one...

No, got to be the Donkey!

Nbg · 16/10/2005 20:28

I love the boat.

Katemum · 16/10/2005 20:32

I'm voting for the domkey. I want one.

Katemum · 16/10/2005 20:33

Maybe I meant donkey!

LIZS · 16/10/2005 20:36

Stay traditional- donkey or horse. Much easier to sell on when you are done.

FrightfullyPoshFloss · 16/10/2005 20:42

Am working on him. He's going with the 'what DS likes'. Will remind him that last week DS thought guinea pig poo made a tasty snack. That should work!

Get him 50 rubber ducks for the bath and the donkey.

FrightfullyPoshFloss · 16/10/2005 20:46

He has some ducks. Could really confuse the child and get some multicoloured ones from mothercare . How dissapointed is he going to be when he realises the boring grey and brown ducks in our local pond are supposed to be the same kind of creature?

My problem with these is that they are very hard to keep clean, I like the wooden ones like this . Or this from John Lewis £33

LadyTophamHatt · 16/10/2005 22:12

Ok, I realise this isn't a rocking horse/duck/boat but we got this for DS'3 2nd birthday last month.

It's age 1-3 years so theres alot of useage there.

To say he loves it would be an understatment!

muppet73 · 16/10/2005 22:23

Just to be awkward - I like the Stanley snail rocker - we have a small version pram toy and our dd loves the bright colours.

Probably not helpful to add another choice but it could be the defuser if you both cant decide.

FrightfullyPoshFloss · 17/10/2005 22:36

Ahh, LTH, that one is soo sweet! He already has a ride on though (well two if toys r us give the one we took back a clean bill of health ), so I just can't justify it.

Skribble, those are very practical and nice, but, and I know I will regret it, I would just like to cuddle the donkey myself. Think DP has come round really but is playing hard to get...
