Grobags or swaddling

Hi,

I've gone a bit crazy and bought a few swaddling wraps as well as a couple of newborn grobags for when our baby makes an appearance.

They were all cheap enough on eBay, so didn't pay loads, but it's now dawned on me that I should have bought one or the other.

Presumably you can't use swaddling wraps AND grobags at night, otherwise the poor thing would overheat. Or is one better for during the day than the other?

I guess I can always sell on what we don't use, but I'd be interested to hear other people's experiences with both methods.

I think I just need to step away from eBay...

I have never used swaddling wraps, but i can recommend grobags :)
swaddling used to scare me........ maybe use then during the day when you can keep an eye on baby?

I used to swaddle my two at first because they liked to be snug and secure but as they got a bit older and started to move around a bit I found they used to fight their way out of the blankets and then get cold so I moved on to grobags then.

HTH :)

Thanks for the replies.

I'm just a bit worried that if I swaddle during the day, and then switch to a grobag at night, there'll be no 'sleeping signal', if you see what I mean.

If he's used to sleeping in a swaddling wrap during the day, and then suddenly the grobag appears, he might not see that as a cue to sleep.

Make sense?

it does, but i don't think it will be a problem. by the time your baby realises a difference they will be having a specific 'night time' routine anyway and the switch would be helpful.

We swaddled him when he was in his basket in our room but when he went into his own room we switched to grobags as i felt safer using them as he kicks his blankets off and likes to put them over his face!
