We're thinking of buying one of these travel cots based on MN reviews for our 8mth DD. Does anyone have personal experience with one of these for a very mobile child? Is it as good as it looks? My main worry is how to keep a protesting child in it? (Not that our DD ever cries! - lol) What do you like most/ least about it?

We have one - my ds was not a particularly mobile child but he certainly couldn't escape from it - it was great for taking on hols as it is extremely lightweight and after the first couple of times, easy to put up. We used up until ds was in a bed, around 6 months ago - he's now 3. As with all travel cots, the mattress seems quite thin, but it never seemed to bother ds.

Thx Peggotty.....good to hear you've had lots of use from yours. I was wondering if used it indoors only, or also for camping? Did you also get the UV sun canopy? I like the idea of using it in the park on long summer evenings so we can enjoy a late BBQ while DD sleeps peacefully next to us :)

we made the mistake of using ours as a play pen in the garden over the summer. The first (and only) time we tried to get DD to sleep in it (at about 11 months) she howled and wouldn't sleep and ended up being put down in her pushchair in the hall while we ate dinner at friends just so she got some rest and we got some peace. I took her up with me when I went to bed and she eventually settled with me lying half i nthe tent with her. I thinbk she was confused as to why she was being put to sleep in a play pen.

Having said that we first tried the M&P travel cot in the garden as a play pen and she couldn't understand why she was being put to bed in the middle of the day, outside...

We have had friends who have only used their's for sleeping and their kids have all been fine in them!
