Karvol room vapouriser question

Hi ladies wonder if you can help me,

My LO has a blocked up nose so got the karvol plug in to help him get through the night but I switched it off before going to bed because it was too hot to touch! I felt really uncomfortable leaving it on like that (though I've got it switched on while I'm with him doing the night feed). My question is are they supposed to get this hot or is mine faulty?? Doesn't seem very safe to me considering they're deemed suitable for childrens rooms.
Thanks!

I have one, don't think it was that hot, take it back it sounds faulty. The calpol one is great, and has a night light!

I binned mine - though more because of the disgusting smell (nothing like Karvol, much more synthetically floral), rather than it getting too hot (tho I seem to remember it was a bit too warm for my liking too).

Didn't know about the nightlight on the Calpol one, so thanks for that.

DS has very bad mucousy cold at the moment and our dr said to keep him in the bathroom while we ran a hot bath or shower so he could inhale the steam. And as a result we've had a night's sleep at last, as it's really helped ease his congestion.

Wonder if that would help too, pinkhyena?
