Which Car?

So we are new to the car market.
All confused about what I need.
So will do my best to explain and hopefully you can tell me your thoughts.

I would like the crossover/ svu vehicles - as I want something a little larger than a small car but don't want anything too big.

Mainly in town driving but will be doing some longer trips (30 miles round trip) twice a week.

Two small children - car seats.

I've looked at
Volkswagen Tougan - loved it in the brochure but not blown away when i saw it.
More excited about the Peugot 3008.
Love the Honda CRV but it seemed a bit big.
Love the Qashqai on the roads but haven't looked at one closely (reviews seem a bit mixed)

Do I look for a Hybrid?
Tell my why/why not it should be diesel?
Tell me why/why not auto or manual - driven manual all my life but did have a auto for a small time period and boy was that a nice luxury.
Speed and uptake are not important - just a safe comfortable, practical drive.

So that's where I'm up to....

If I had to replace my old lady (and I really don't wanna!), I'd go for a Fiat Panda 4x4. Or slightly bigger, Honda FRV.

If you do get the Tiguan then wait, as there is a new one out in a few weeks.

The changes aren't a huge difference, but it does look nicer - www.carbuzz.co.uk/blog/post/Revised-Volkswagen-Tiguan-Photos.aspx

Plus it means it wont depreciate a fast.

why do you want a crossover/suv if you are pottering around town? silly. peugeot 3008 a foul looking car and peugeots are crap.

get a mini clubman
or a golf if you need more boot space

get petrol if you do less than 12k miles per year

get auto if you drive mostly in towns or manual if you prefer it - your choice really

you do NOT need a big car

freshmint · 07/02/2011 10:09

ps 15 miles there and back is not a long trip Hmm

WeeBitWobbly · 07/02/2011 19:03

Why are peugeots crap?
Sorry to be boring you ruby? But thanks for dadsnet suggestion.

Little-thanks for tip about tougan will keep an eye on that.
