Child Seat for Bike

We want to buy a child's seat for our bikes - but don't want to pay a fortune for it as we are not hardy bikers!!! It's just for occassional trips. Obviously, we want something safe - but also reasonable. Any recommendations? Also, does anyone know of anywhere you can get a bike helmet to fit a 15 month old?

I got our cycle helmet (10mths at the time) from our local cycle shop. it has foam pads that you add to make it exactly the right size.
it's a MET zippy
Have a look at this
or this

should give you some suggestions. I think the smallest size is 46-54cm so you will need to measure head circumference.
I'm sure some on ewill correct me if I am wrong

we have just got the cheaper ones I think they are in index and argos for around 30pound. I find them ample for our 3 1/2 yr old and our 22month old. We have only just started cycling aswell so felt it would be a waste of money to buy anything more expensive.

we've just bought the CoPilot Taxi, were prepared to buy a cheaper seat, but after having a look at them decided the extra money was worth it for our dd's safety and our peace of mind. The CoPilot Taxi has very deep sides and a high back, the cheaper models don't. I wouldn't scrimp on safety even if you are only biking occasionally.

We bought one that goes behind our seat, buit have recently tried a seat in front of us on a hired bike - I LOVED IT. Felt a lot safer and like I could be more protective of DD; not sure what good having my arms around her would do in an accident or near miss... but nevermind!
