Where to get a bed from?

We're looking for a well made but cheap reasonably priced wooden bed frame.

DP's seen one he likes in homebase for £159. bed here

but I'm not sure if I want one that's so low to the ground.

If anyone has any suggestions I'd be grateful!

TIA Smile

Ikea have non standard mattress sizes, so that's worth considering if you want to go there.

Have you thought about looking second hand? If it's lasted enough to be re-sold then it will be good quality, and you can find something really unique. Look on ebay under "Distance - nearest first" if you have access to a big car or a van, or look around second hand furniture shops which will usually deliver locally.

Other than that, I got a nice bed at Dreams a few years ago, and they have a 10 year guarantee, although that might be just for the mattress. This is the one I got, although I think it was cheaper then. It's really nice, although the corners on the footboard are really sharp!

(Your link doesn't work BTW so not sure if that's the style you're going for)

Thanks for your replies people Smile

No IKEA near here unfortunately. We have to go elsewhere when the nesting instinct hits Grin

BertieBotts they're exactly the kind of thing we're looking for but without the footboard - I should have said, DP is tall, and beds with footboards are no go.
(I really like sleigh beds, but it's they're out unfortunately!)

Here's an attempt at the link again

The more I think about it the more I think I don't like it though. It's too low down, and I'm not sure about the the sides as they stick out a lot, I think it could be a pain after a while. I do like the way it looks though.

Ebay is a good idea and I've been doing exactly what you suggested BertieBotts but there's nothing locally I like at the moment. I'll keep trying though!

A trip round the second hand shops might be just the ticket actually. If we're going to spend the best part of a couple of hundred quid anyway, we'll get something much better quality from a second hand shop for that money. I'm wary of buying the cheapest in the shop and it falling apart. Neither of us are exactly what you'd call petite!
