We got towed to our destination at Christmas. We came off the ferry from the C.I into a few inches of snow blanketing Weymouth and the surrounding area.
Trying to get to Devon to spend Christmas with the in laws, battery died - due to alternator problems. Car got put on the back of the truck and we had a nice warm cab ride.
In our case it was worth it, but you won't really know until disaster happens!

yep it was a T reg. We have since bought a new car.
Do you go on long trips away? I think it is useful then... :)

We have added it this time as it'll be easier with a baby. Didn't bother when we just had big dds as they can wait/public transport etc

I've used Gem for the last 2 years - although never had to call them out. Cost £84.50 for their Recovery Extra and thats for 2 of us to be covered in any car we are in. Best value i've been able to find with decent reviews.

My bank account offers recovery as part of the deal -see if you pick up freebie cover elsewhere by changing bank accounts.

Check before you go ahead that you don't have cover already from your bank (and obviously your motor insurer) some do cover you but forget to tell you Hmm

Many years ago we just had Roadside cover. We broke down on the M4 (clutch went). We were towed to a garage in the middle of nowhere and left. It was late at night, it was dark, and we had little children. It took the ILs 5 hours to get to us....

We have always had the whole lot since then.
