Is there a special kind of sellotape for mending books?

Particularly board books take a lot of abuse in our house, and attempts to mend them with ordinary sellotape are never that successful. Ordinary stuff goes yellow and unsticky after a while, and scotch tape tears too easily.

Is there something specially designed for the job? I dimly remember seeing tape in library books with some kind of thread built into it -- can normal mortals get hold of such a thing?

We have so many books out of circulation atm because the joins have gone, and it's such a waste.

Gaffer tape (from DIY shops) has thread running through it - but it isn't clear

Anyone else? I can't be the only one with stacks of broken books lying around.

Yes there is and I have a roll at home from when I worked in the library Found it in the back of the cupboard when I cleared out the other week. Have no idea what its called tho. Its strong clear tape but doesnt have thread in it. Nip down and ask your friendly library assistants. Sure they would be delighted to tell you.

Hello Frogs!

You need to go to Gresswells and type FILMOPLAST into their little search window (it's the sort of website where you can't do a direct link)

This product is acid-free and safe for indefinite use. Oh dear, I'll get my cardigan! (Marina shuffles off through dusty shelves to get a life)
