Backpack Child Carriers - from what age?

I have bought something like this from a charity shop (for £4!!) and not surprisingly there's no instructions.

Anyone know what age it should be ok from ?

It's the same make as the one on the link but probably a much older model - doesn't look as flash - but there's no info on the manufacturer's website about age range anyway.

I was thinking I'd just try dd in it and if she seems comfortable and she is secure it should be ok shouldn't it ?

The link doesn't work.

Think baby need to be able to sit properly for most. 6-8 months?

BARGAIN buy, well done!!

Can't see the link but we used a backpack carrier from about 5 months - I think ours recommended 6 months, but dd was fine.

Haven't seen the link, but backpack carriers tend to be from about 6m, or from the age the child can sit up alone, as the child's back doesn't get the same sort of support as it would in a sling. We used ours from 6 or 8m.

That appears to be a man disappearing into a snowdrift

At 9 months she'll be fine.

I paid £8 from the charity shop for mine!

Most backpacks are from 6 months so you should be fine, till they get too heavy!

Witchycat · 04/10/2005 20:30

You're quite right WWB. I didn't buy a load of snow & a bloke in the charity shop.

Don't know why that's not working - maybe cos I had to select English option from the German website. Nevermind. I think consensus is that 9 months is fine (she's average size).
