Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced but reliable (ie non-leaky and non-scratchy) for DD, 12? I paid £40 for one a couple of months back and apparently it's gone scratchy and isn't useable Hmm. She'll be funding this one with Christmas money!

You can't go wrong with Parker. I used to work in a stationery shop and Parker will take back pens of any age and repair them. The refills and the nib are the same regardless of how expensive the pen is, and if it is expensive it is because the trim or the pen is made from gold or other expensive materials. The pen itself isn't any better.

That's really handy to know bun thanks. I had wrongly assumed that a £40 would last her her school career! We'll go for a Parker this time then!
