Any ideas? One of my twins is recently yugioh mad and I just found a wee pack of the cards going cheap so he can have a little surprise in the post. My other boy doesn't particularly like yugioh so it seemed a waste to get him the same thing but he'll be jealous if he doesn't get a postal present. Any thoughts? £5 max spend (plus postage).

C'mon! Stop arguing about how to teach kids to read and think of a present for my boy!

auntymandy · 30/09/2005 23:25

How about top trumps? I think you can get them on Amazon!

Or on the other hand - some jolly phonics books

yajorome · 30/09/2005 23:25

What sort of things does he like?

soapbox · 30/09/2005 23:26

Aloha - snap

Janh · 30/09/2005 23:27

Top Trumps brilliant idea!

auntymandy · 30/09/2005 23:28

yugioh?

Janh · 30/09/2005 23:29

Like Pokemon, am, if you've heard of that?

yajorome · 30/09/2005 23:30

What about a couple of those awful kids mags relating to whatever he likes? You could post them to him one day while he's at school. Both of mine (4 and 7 1/2) love them - more for the free gifts and pics than for anything else (kinda like me with my magazines).

ScummyMummy · 30/09/2005 23:31

Ooo! Top trumps is a good idea! And lol at all the JP recommendations. Serves me right for cheekily linking from the reading threads, doesn't it?
Yu gi oh is a Japanese anime thing involving cards- sort of tougher version Pokemon, auntym.

He likes a pretty wide range of things yajorome but my mind's gone blank on an "equivalent" to yugioh, iyswim.

Mine love the Beano

ScummyMummy · 30/09/2005 23:41

I feel a game of Predator Top Trumps coming on soon!
The Beano is fab, roisin.

auntymandy · 30/09/2005 23:44

have heard of pokemon yes..sorry mine are too old and too young for new style pokemon so not in touch with it!

roisin · 30/09/2005 23:45

I loathe the Beano actually. Ds2 doesn't seem to view it as fiction! He is particularly thrilled with his new dungarees, because Minnie the Minx wears dungarees ...?!

A friend - or should I say a former friend - gave ds1 192 copies of the Beano in June

Janh · 30/09/2005 23:46

Oooh, roisin, which dungs did you get and are they fab?

roisin · 30/09/2005 23:49

Yes, the dungs are fab. He's wearing the smaller Oshkosh ones, but also bought a larger pair for him to grow into.

I am so pleased I got them. He has a large (hairy) birthmark on his bum, and although he doesn't talk about it much, I think he gets teased about it when his trousers are falling down .. which they always are. So that's another (non-Beano) reason why he is thrilled with them.

yajorome · 30/09/2005 23:50

Ooh, try ebay for Top Trumps - we've had excellent success with Pokemon and Yu Gi Oh cards from there.

Never heard of Beano - feel I should be grateful my two haven't either.

ScummyMummy · 01/10/2005 09:22

Dungers are sooo sweet. I wish mine would wear them. I bet he looks great, roisin.

I still retain a nostalgic childhood love for the Beano, I must say.

Yeah, I reckon Top Trumps for Boy2 too Scummy. My boy is mad on Yu Gi Oh cards too.

ScummyMummy · 01/10/2005 10:19

I got them, www.
How are you, btw?
