I unpacked the farm, disposed of all packaging and put working and tested batteries in so I was all all set for Xmas day morning. However I can't get any of the promised sounds to work. :( Any suggestions?

Isn't there a switch?

Don't despair - happy land is super - lasts and lasts.

I don't think so - I had a good luck. Perhaps I am being a dunce though - will double check.

I really want it to work - I had lots of plans to get more Happyland so this isn't a good start.

Sorted! There is no switch or plastic tab...but I replaced the rechargeable batteries with normal ones and now we have full on mooing, baaing and cockadoodledooing!

The rechargeable ones were definitely working so I don't really know what's going on there.

Hurrah - now we can get back to planning on what to get for DS next! :)

Sometimes, rechargeable batteries aren't as powerful as ordinary ones. They do come in different "strengths" though.

I don't think I've ever got rechargeable to work in the TV remotes for example.
