Preferably not too pricey. It's ds's birthday next week and I'm clean out of ideas.

TIA

Just found some football goal nets on D&A Toys website reduced from £25 to £5 if he likes a kickaround.

champs · 29/09/2005 03:03

what's he into? cars? video games? sports?

tatt · 29/09/2005 06:44

leave him alone with the argos catalogue and you'll find he soon has a list

If he hasn't alreasy got it you can order roller coaster tycoon 2 from amazon pretty cheaply. Its from one of the smaller retailers who use amazon, not from them. Brilliant game and apart from dropping visitors into the lake ( not part of the game but boys soon find they can do it) a peaceful one.

Bit late to do the book people but Dick King Smith's books went down well with mine at that age.

Frieda · 29/09/2005 09:41

Thanks very much - going to check out the rollercoaster now and I'll have a butchers at the D&A website, too (although we're in a tiny rented house with no garden to speak of, so goal nets may well be a bit impractical at the mo).

The only two things he's mentioned wanting are some kind of Robo-dinosaur that he saw advertised on TV at something ridiculous like £89.99 (really annoys me that they advertise these extortionate toys inbetween the kids programmes) and a Playstation Advance that I've seen at £69.99 on Amazon - still a bit pricey in my (stingy) estimation. Don't suppose anyone knows where I could find one cheaper - ie preferably under £50.

Thanks again

hiya! do you mean the gameboy advance?

tatt · 29/09/2005 14:34

if you mean gameboy advance we got a second hand one at Game, they had loads at about £30 with a game as well. People have been trading in them for PSP.
Rollercoaster tycoon 2 is here,

www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00006IQV5/qid=1128000625/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_11_1/202-5284025-3202264

It's cheap because they've recently released version 3.

Guinness Book of Records

Ulysees · 29/09/2005 15:11

He wants robopet so dh and I thought we had it all sown up but MIL has bought him it. Now we're thinking of PSP but hear they're hard to get?

champs · 29/09/2005 16:09

tatt -- Ds1 loves RCT too!! Theme park world is good too.

Ulysees -- PSP's aren't hard to get hold of at mo, I expect it will be harder nearer Christmas as companies like to release as few as poss so we run around like headless chickens trying to get one (bitter?? moi??) Most of the game shops have them in stock. Which area are you in? Or did you want to get it online?

Ulysees · 29/09/2005 16:13

cheers champs, I'm in co. durham. I hadn't started looking as dh thought they were hard to get. I'll have a search for a good deal now though.

Kayleigh · 29/09/2005 16:16

My ds1 was 7 in August. He wanted (and got) an arsenal football kit. Not cheap but he is certainly getting our moneys worth out of it

champs · 29/09/2005 17:59

no probs

Ulysees · 29/09/2005 18:02

wow those psps aren't cheap are they?? Decided to get him ps2 instead as he only has ps1.

Frieda · 29/09/2005 22:47

Sorry, champs, I've been away all afternoon. Yes, I did mean Gameboy advance (spot the old-fashioned technophobe mum ) What's PSP, by the way? (I'm guessing it's some kind of new playstation thingy...)

Ulysees -- nope not cheap at all!! I'm sure ps2 will go down a treat with ur ds. you can also play dvd's on them which my ds loves.

Frieda -- hiya! psp is a new handheld console.

Milliways · 30/09/2005 07:56

Argos do a massive box of Magnetix (200 pieces) for £19.99. My DS is desparate for that for christmas.

champs · 30/09/2005 14:14

miliways -- ds1 loves theese too!! just a warning, careful if you have younger children too, ds2 also loves them and the balls are smal, I found him a couple of times with one in his mouth
