Clothes Sizes

Hi everyone
Does anyone have any experience of complaining about misleading clothes sizes? For example: I have a Next t-shirt (bought in the sale, but still...) which claims to be 3-6 months/up to 18lbs and it's already a little tight on my 3.5 month old 13lb 6 daughter! No way is it going to last more than a few more weeks!
Any advice gratefully recieved!
Thanks,
Clare.

is there any way it could have shrunk in the wash/tumble dryer? That is (unfortunately) what many shops will try and say.
Next are usually quite good though so I would ask - nothing ventured nothing gained.

Blimey, I never thought of that! I'm pretty sure I've never shrunk anything. Looking at it, it is tumble dry-able and it doesn't look smaller than when I bought it (a while ago - planning ahead!)
You're right - nothing ventured, nothing gained. And OH is v. good at complaining (LOL) so I might take him with me!

i think generally next clothes do come up smaller, just recently.

next are quite good at returns though and it is always worth a try.

I find clothes sizes vary hugely. My dd is bang on 50th centile for weight & height (although short legs so trousers are always too long)and she is 9 months at the weekend. She has some 3-6 months clothes that still fit her and one item 12-18 months, new, never washed that only just fits! It's from Boots & I find most of their stuff small. Ladybird (Woolworths) also small.
Tescos & Marks come up big.

As for Verbaudet or Monsoon - kids must be really skinny & tall or nothing fits at all. (No good for my stocky short legged beasties!)

PS - Next I find too long in the arms for my dd but otherwise generally ok. THey usually take returns or might offer an exchange as it was in the Sale.

tell me about the monsoon stuff, ds2 is 3.8 and has to have an age 6-8 in monsoon!! everywhere else he fits nicely into a 3-4 or 4-5!

Yup, clothes sizes vary hugely even stuff from the same shop. I am boring I know, but these days if I'm shopping for clothes for the dses I take something that they are already wearing which fits them, for comparison. I've never tried actually complaining though.

I do find a lot of clothes shrink a little in the wash though, especially if tumble dried.

I have long given up on clothing sizes dd is 3 3/4 and her wardrobe consists of anything for 18-24 month clothes to 4 year old and I'd say she's pretty average in size.
