Right, just what is wrong with the M&P Pramette?!

I am trying to help a friend decide on a pushchair for her baby due in January, and I like the look of the Pramette. But I've seen a lot on Ebay being sold after only a couple of months, so what is wrong with them? I admit that I sold my huge travel system after a few months to buy a tiny Maclaren, but surely the pramette isn't THAT huge? So, tell me the truth, what do you HATE about the pramette?

everyone has them! just take a look next time you are out, and particularly at baby clinic etc....

there will be a gazillion of them...

Mojomummy · 25/09/2005 20:46

I think they are a fab idea. Lie flat for baby, then turn into a pliko - IMHO the best pushchair on the market

Perhaps people sell them to buy a (horrible & uncomfortable) maclaren !

If they are selling them on e-bay, you should be able to get a bargain ?

PS I've used a pliko for the last 18mths & DD is 27 mths.

Mojomummy · 25/09/2005 20:47

oops, sorry, didn't mean that about the maclaren . My friend has one & swears by it - must be 2 camps - the maclarens & the plikos..

hunkermunker · 25/09/2005 20:49

Mojomummy, you're not meant to sit in the Maclaren!

vickiyumyum · 25/09/2005 20:52

i think it may just be buggyaholics selling on their recent purchases. thats what i seem to find with ebay buggies, that lots are for sale by the same users and they are constantly buying/selling buggies on ebay to sell on or update their collection. (sad i know)

The pramette does look quite good and will be on my list for the next child, so would be interested in any horror stories too. (my main issue with it is it is a mamas and papas product, which i try to avoid as everyone has them, but at the moment there doesn't seem to be much competition for it)

littlelamb · 25/09/2005 20:54

No offence taken, beginning to wish i had something a bit more comfortable for dd to be honest. a criticism that people on ebay seem to have (not helping them sell, IMO!) is that it's heavy to push. Would you agree? Totally wish I had one myself TBH, think I will have a severe case of pram envy whatever my friend decides!

Prefer the Bebeconfort Loola to the Pramette - don't like M&P styling.

Mojomummy · 25/09/2005 21:39

hard to push ?? they're all wimps !

Well, I don't have a gym membership anymore, so perhaps I enjoy using the pliko to burn calories ? Seriously though, I don't find mine hard work at all. It's has nice swivel wheels, so turns well. I've had an urban detour, now that was hard work

Just brought a M&P pramette for my first child who is due on the 12th October.
Currently at my mums house, had a play with it. Very light, very easy to push, seems really comfey, looks fantastic, folds down to absolutely nothing, very easy to convert / put on carseat etc etc.

Personally I had a preference to the Loola but was told that could only be used for a new born baby if buying the carry cot section, which IMO for the price was a waste of money, and it was huge so would have been a total waste of space.

Starlover - if everybody has them, it kind of proves that they're decent, word of mouth is a powerful thing!!

LeahE · 25/09/2005 22:32

I like it. After a while it gets a bit heavy but then so do all the buggies that are heavily padded, etc. It's easy to steer, easy to fold (not so easy to fold one-handed but then few of them are), has a good range of positions...

It's definitely the most popular model among my mothers-of-babies friends so maybe that's why so many are coming up on eBay?

starlover · 25/09/2005 22:32

no it just means that people are sheep

Elf1981 · 25/09/2005 23:39

LOL

I still think its very nice though. Even if I had a sulk because I wanted a Loola to begin with.
