Ds2 want this ......

I'll be wantng earplugs!

Enid · 26/09/2005 13:04

aloha, get him junk - my dd1 never really plays much with toys and I felt the same as you when she was 4. I steeled myself and bought her some hideous Argos pink pony palace and she really, really loved it and although I grimaced it was worth it to see her face on Christmas Day!

dropinthe · 26/09/2005 13:06

Only thing at the moment is the Scooby Doo bus and characters-a friend of mine has it and ds1 plays for hours with it when we are round there!

sweetkitty · 26/09/2005 13:14

Refuse to think about Christmas until at least October DB no 2 will be born January so have to get baby stuff/double buggy sorted before then. As for DD who will be 17mo I am planning to get her things I think she will like for instance:

toy teaset, plates spoons etc as she loves playing with her own plastic ones
little pram to push around
probably another dolly to put in it
was thinking about some sort of tent/ball pit as well

not going madly overboard she has loads of stuff already never realised how much until we unpacked, she seems to get a new cuddly toy every week from relatives!

aloha · 26/09/2005 13:16

Hmmm, what is the boy's equivalent of a pink pony palace I wonder Enid
The thing that really floats his boat atm is story tapes - not the most exciting parcel to unwrap though.

ds is batman. So he wants a batmobile, a batman suit, a batman scooter and a batman dvd (and to live in a cave and have real bat pets).

I am not buying anything early though because he might have changed into Captain Scarlett by December.

Hulababy - you'll have to get the happyland church from the elc website, cos it's discontinued!!

So far ds (who will be 20 months) has:

The fisher price half price kitchen (wonder how many kids will open that on xmas day )
plus tons of fake food, washing machine (all toysrus) plus toaster, pots and pans, plates and tea set (elc the cool new spotty one)

A happyland book, a kids dance cd and some alphabet blocks (all elc and hoping to squish them into his stocking)

I also got the happyland church, doctors surgery and road pack cos they're being discontinued, but dh and I are fighting as I want to open them when they come

He will only have stocking presents now (and just the kitchen and bits as main present) from us. I'd like more happyland for him, the wooden trike and trailer from elc here
, and some dvds. That's just if people ask.

foxinsocks · 26/09/2005 13:59

Mine are fixated by the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Chocolate Maker (I think they have visions of unlimited chocolate just sprouting out of the machine!). I've ordered it now because they were literally disappearing off the shelves. They will get that to share, probably a game that we can all play as a family (oh joy! but they do love games) and possibly one other present each from us.

I'm not sure what the other present will be - dd (5) will change her mind before Xmas but she loves girly stuff so no doubt some horrible barbie realted stuff and ds (he'll be 4 at Xmas) will probably opt for either a micro machine thing or some more train stuff.

foxinsocks · 26/09/2005 14:06

actually just reading the thread, like Enid's dd, dd is quite taken with the Barbie head (but the thought of having that in the house is really putting me off!).

Lucycat · 26/09/2005 14:11

Hulababy - which Toys and Nursey website - can you point me in the right direction? I have 2 barbie princess mad dd's!!! Purlease?

nutcracker · 26/09/2005 14:13

I think this is the one Hula means here

Zephyrcat · 26/09/2005 14:17

This thread has made me realise I really don't have a clue!! DD turns 4 on xmas day so this year is 1st bike year but don't know whether to do that for xmas or b'day. I think santa usually brings your first bike doesn't he? But then do I let Santa get a better present than her b'day present? lol arrgghh!!!!!!!

Lucycat · 26/09/2005 14:18

Thanks nutty!!! Lots of browsing to be done now!

chicaguapa · 06/10/2005 21:38

DD has her 4th birthday 2 months before Christmas so I really struggle with what to get her as there are already so many toys around.

So what I got her last year and plan to do again this year is buy her some character pyjamas and socks etc. She was thrilled with her Brum socks and Tweenies pjs. This year she wants Spongebob everything! It also helps them to get dressed without tantrums.

But something she asked for her birthday (other than an leapster) is a pogostick. A friend's child has also asked for this so I don't know if there was one on CBeebies recently. But after much hunting I have found a Disney Tigger T-Ball for 4+. (In case anyone else has had the same request.)

pootlepod · 06/10/2005 21:48

Probably a cooker, would prefer a wooden one but that fisher price one is very tempting. DD is 2.

Will ask relatives to buy
pots/pans, play food to go with it
crafty stuff
dolls cot
jigsaws
vests/tights
books

LadyCodofCodford · 06/10/2005 22:14

yes

roisin · 06/10/2005 22:14

DS1 (8) wants a torch, "surprise presents", books, Lego, GBA games, DVDs, and money! LOL

I've no idea what ds2 wants.

roisin · 06/10/2005 22:20

DS1 always wants a torch every year for Christmas ... by about Boxing Day ds2 has dismantled it, and experimented to work out how much electricity he can put through the bulb before it blows ...! Then we traipse round the hardware stores trying to find replacement bulbs that fit. By which time ds2 has dismantled it further, and used the components in other inventions.

DS1 remains very calm about it all, and has just continuee to put "a torch" on every single Christmas/birthday list for about the past 4 years!

TwinSetAndPearls · 07/10/2005 01:21

a microwave to go with her wooden kitchen like this

NightHowl360 · 07/10/2005 01:44

so far my ideas are:

dd:
a rocking horse (small)
a kitchen (she loves the one at nursery)
a little tricycle type thing
some baby sets
a large "my little pony" she keeps trying to steal from asda

ds:
various science type sets (growing stuff)
dvd player
telescope thingy

havent got a clue apart from that..im lacking in space too. i know the kitchens are quite big but ive seen a duplo type one that packs away into a tub..does anyone know if its any good?
