Baby Milly? from ELC

Has anyone bought this? I've searched and searched and thought and thought about what doll to get dd for her 3rd b'day and decided against Baby Annabelle for the sheer cost of all the accessories - £7 for a pair of tights, and £3.50 for a dummy?!

Saw Baby Milly today and the sales assistant let me play with it, it looks just as good to me, what does everyone else think? Am I being mean not going with Baby Annabelle? And is the 'free' accessories always going to be free with it?

Don't know the difference but dd was allowed to play with baby Millie recently & loved it. I asked if the accessories were always going to be free & was told as long the current catalogue is running.

I wouldn't be too bothered about being perceived as being mean. You are not mean if you want to buy something nice for your child. And you buy what your budget allows, so you are being very sensible.

And if more people did this, Zapf or whoever might bring the price of baby Annabel down - it is ridiculously overpriced!!!

dd1 got ELC Lucy last year for xmas. she doesnt 'do' anything, but is the most played with doll in this house. her bag of accessories go everywhere as well.

Hulababy · 25/09/2005 08:16

misdee - we have Baby Lucy too and she is loved just as much as Baby Annabel. have to say that DD doesn' use the noise functions on Annabel anywhere near as much now as she first did. She's just as happy with her non function dolls.

Wouldn't worry about seeming mean at all.

misdee · 25/09/2005 08:25

we also have a sophie that has magents in its hands, thats nice non functioning doll, and dd1 has a baby abigail, who did used to snore, cry etc, but is now broken. they just use their imagination more. so many times i;ve been handed a doll and told she is crying and i have to sooth the thing by rocking [rolls eyes]

DD hada baby millie for all of 20 mins then it cried and it scared her to death and i had to return it - the quality was lovely and there we're loads free accessories that we're nice.

Right, thanks for all your replies. I think I'm going to go with the Baby Milly then, it did look good in the shop. She has a little part of her tummy where you tickle to make her giggle, or make her burp etc. It looks brilliant!

Don't worry about being mean. My dd1 is called Anabel and despite everyone thinking it would be a great gift for my little girl i flat out refused to spend that much on a doll and her accessories. Baby Annabelle is outrageously overpriced. Her items cost more than most of my dd1 or dd2's accessories !! I too bought baby Lucy for my dd1 and she loves it to bits. Baby Milly is better value.

Bought it today, so it's too late now! lol
