cycle helmet for 18 month old

Does anyone use a cycle helmet for their 18 month old No matter how much I tighten / loosen the neck strap - the helmet can easily be slid over backwards so it sits on the back of the head rather than the top of the head. This would offer no protection if he fell off. Am I being un-realistic trying to find a helmet that fits an 18 mo head or are there any out there ?

Bensmum3 - I don't know how to measure his head

Try from his forehead around like a pudding bowl, just above the ears, but lower at the back.

We also have the met buddy and it fits 46/54 cm . Both my 2 and 10 yr old have the same size, and have worn them from 6 months.

take him to a bike shop and get them to fit it properly

we have that met one I think - it has a plastic bit inside the actual helmet that you tighten so it fits properly on their head (the adult one is like this aswell). Dd has one without the plastic bit (an older one) and it definitely doesn't fit as well as the newer one.
