I remember discussions about these last christmas and wondered how those of you who brought them have got on. Thinking of getting one for my 3yr old ds, would you buy the my first leapfrog or jump straight to the 4 yrs plus?

Hi Fidget. Ours was used a grand total of about 10 times and is now languishing in a cupboard, so I wish I hadn't bothered. Ds was 5 so I bought the older one.

my 2yr old has 1st one. from experience there aren't as many books available in shops (though you can orderonline)for this one.
only difference i could see was that the pen is chunkier in the 1st one & size of the actual thing.
I'd say go for the older one - it will last longer.

must admit though he doesn't use it all that often.
might dig it back out now & see if he likes it again

Dd1 was 3 at Christmas and I bought her the 'baby' one and it was a great success. She uses it in the car. I wouldn't have bothered buying an extra book for it as she's still quite happy with the Leap book it came with.

I disagree with those who say go for the older one as I know my dd1 wouldn't have enjoyed it so much. She's seen an older friends one and doesn't like it much as it was a bit too advanced for her. Think of it as a toy and not an educational tool and you won't be disappointed.

Fidget - I bought dd the 4yr+ one - she is not interested (she is 3.9yo). If you are interested I will sell it to you - it is good as new!!!

Bought my son the 4+ one last Christmas ( he was 3 1/2)
He still loves it.

i bought my son the 'baby' one last christmas. he is now 3 years old. he luvs it. also takes it in the car and helps for long car ride. i would recommend this one rather than the older child version. it is more geared towards the toddler age i think as it helps with shapes, numbers and alphabet. good luck
