Hi

My two boys (7 & 5) want a DS for long car journeys. I know literally nothing about them. Can anyone advise what to buy, how the games work, if they are suitable for their ages etc etc

You need console (ds , dsi or the larger version of dsi) and a few game cartridges. Some games(like Super Mario Bros, Mario Party and Cars) can work on 2 consoles at the same time for head to head interactive play. Most basic games would be fine for that age but you may wnat to buy a set fo spare touch screen "pens" as they get lost easily on journeys.

Games have age ratings on them. If your boys have any particular favourites when it comes to TV or films, it's quite likely you'll find a game associated with it. You can also find more 'educational' games about science, maths, spelling, memory games etc.

I think each DS comes with two or three styluses (the touch pens LIZS mentioned) but you can pick up a bundle of spare ones very cheaply on ebay if they get lost. You are more likely to get a cheaper deal on a DSLite than a DSi as the Lites have been around longer. All DS games work on all DS consoles.

Thanks all. Well I have gone for the DS.

Can anyone recommend some good but educational games for the boys?
