I am looking for some swimming goggles for a 5 year old? Can anyone suggest a brand that actually work and dont let the water in their eyes?

Not a brand as such, but your dc should be able to try them on before you buy them. An experienced assistant (such as those at the local swimming pool) should be able to help you choose a set.

(wisdom learned the hard way, after years of buying the "wrong" size)

It is better for children to learn to swim without goggles. They learn to open their eyes underwater. A lot of children then become so reliant on them they are scared of swimming without them. The water will not hurt thier eyes and it may take a go or two to get used to the water but it is better in the long run.

However, if you still choose to use them, then I recommend zoggs. They are the best.
