Would you have called the police?

Last night I was in town and a very young couple were having a drunken row. Suddenly the man hit the woman very hard across the face and sent her flying

I felt dismayed and afterwards disappointed in myself that I didn't call the police. I think if I ever see that again I will. What would you have done? It upset me and I thought about it a lot afterwards and wondered what happened to the girl.

what would you have done if it had been two blokes? or two women? At the end of the day it's assault and yes, I think you should have called the police.

Would they have still been around when the police arrived?

I don't know - possibly not as they were in the middle of the street, I stopped and the person I was with dragged me on and said 'it's none of our business and they might start on us' But at really it was wrong to walk on by.
