My son is 3 and the traditional mega bloks are not really exciting enough for him anymore and they come apart too easily. What is better the Megabloks mini or micro blocks or lego? We won't be doing any exotic kits at the moment. Are the mini ones the one that compare with lego? I know that the mini and micro ones are currently on offer in certain places but I am happy to buy lego if it is superior. Many thanks

Normal lego beats hands down from my experience. My boy loves it. Also, normal lego can be a 'keeper' for the grandchildren, so i see it as an investment, as it is expensive! It's the only toy that i know will be played with constantly for years and will last. Brilliant stuff.

There is a reason that Lego is a brand that has lasted more than 50 years...all the rest are just pretenders. Even if you buy Mega blocks etc you will always come back to Lego :)

Himalaya · 29/10/2010 22:45

You can't beat Lego. It clunks better.

nappyaddict · 10/11/2010 15:01

Micro mega bloks is on offer in Argos.

cleggy36 · 14/11/2010 23:35

Lego every time.

NotShortImPomBearSized · 14/11/2010 23:37

Lego, the others don't always go together properly. Lego is far better.

RoobyMurray · 14/11/2010 23:38

Duplo then lego. And yes, it will last for years and can be a stock response to "what shall I get him for Christmas?"

You can't really have too much lego.

nappyaddict · 16/11/2010 11:25

NotShort Do you mean mega and micro blocks don't go together proplery with duplo and lego or do you mean mega and micro blocks don't go together properly with other mega and micro blocks?

LostGirl · 16/11/2010 11:36

The mega micro blocks just do not fit together properly with other mega micro blocks so that anything you make quickly falls apart, or when you try to add another brick on then then it either won't 'stick' or you/your child tries to press so hard that the whole thing falls into pieces. They are crap, lego everytime. You can generally get a bag of random lego pieces on ebay for a reasonable price.

onadietcokebreak · 16/11/2010 11:38

(flaming bloody) lego.

My ds is 3 and obsessed

nappyaddict · 16/11/2010 11:47

LostGirl What about the mega mini blocks? (The Duplo sized ones)

Acanthus · 16/11/2010 13:18

lego is much much better

LostGirl · 17/11/2010 11:54

Don't have any experience with the duplo size mega ones I'm afraid.

belgo · 17/11/2010 11:56

Agree regarding the value. It you keep the instruction books and try not to lose the special pieces, then it holds it's value very well.

My children play with 30 year old lego and it is still great.

belgo · 17/11/2010 11:58

http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/7327_Pyramid_of_the_Pharaoh Egyptian lego is coming out next year; although a lego pyramid is very easy to make without buying the special set!

belgo · 17/11/2010 11:58

here

mousymouse · 17/11/2010 11:58

Lego every time

Ormirian · 17/11/2010 12:01

Lego.

BUT... I have to say that Megablocks seems to have improved in quality. Years ago it was a bit crap and the bricks didn't stay together properly.

And Lego don't do Halo!

Nagoo · 17/11/2010 12:05

megablocks just feel crap.

Lego is much more satisfying. It's to do with the density of the plastic I think.

belgo · 17/11/2010 12:08

I've bought Smurf mmegomicro blocks, but the chidlren haven't played with them yet. The quality is better but not as good as lego

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 17/11/2010 12:13

Lego.

Can't beat it.

I love the stuff almost as much as the ds'Blush

nappyaddict · 17/11/2010 12:23

LostGirl How recently did you have the mega micro bloks?

LostGirl · 17/11/2010 15:00

I didn't thank god but was babysitting for children who had them and we spent a very frustrating evening trying to build things. Was probably a couple of months ago.

c0rns1lk · 17/11/2010 15:04

lego definitely

LostGirl · 17/11/2010 15:05

Don't know how long they had had them for though. I know they recently had the Halo products which their mum regretted buying as unless you actually stuck them together with glue then the models would not stay together.
