I wore a top I bought a couple of months ago for the first time last night. So today I decided to wash it - label said hand wash so I put it on hand wash cycle in washing machine. And it's shrunk I have the receipt (which says i can't return it after 28 days) and wondered what would happen if I took it back and said I actually handwashed it. Would i get anything back? It's from Wallis at Debenhams. tia

I think the part that states you can't return it after 28 days refers to a customer simply changing their mind. If a product displays a fault (as is the case here) and you have a receipt you should be entitled to a full refund. However, I would not own up to putting it in the machine, even though on a hand wash cycle it should have been fine. Say that you followed the instructions on the label and how disappointed you are, etc, and you should receive a refund no problem. At worst, you should receive a credit note.

Good luck!
