Thomas trains????

Can anyone help.
Ds has a big train set and I had thought of getting him some Thomas trains this year to go with it.
I have just seen a load of Thomas trains in the Sainsburys sale this evening. They say they are the take along set.
Can these be used on wooden rails of just the Thomas Tank train sets?

The take along ones don't fit on the wooden railway . We have been given some and they still get driven round the track, but they are lopsided and tend to crash a lot (not always considered a bad thing )

ok, totally confused with all the Thomas stuff, hence me not getting them this evening. I think I saw some Thomas trains at ELC once upon a time so I guess they might be the ones to get.

Yes ELC have some of the wooden ones that fit - they were in the sale last weekend too (£2 to £3 off), I picked up a Gordon and Percy for my DS!

Trackmaster track is now beige (used to be blue) and they only fit trackmaster trains (need batteries, go by themselves, make an irritating noise when jammed against the skirting board)

Take along is grey track - has magnetic trains, doesn't require a lot of space. does not mix with trackmaster or wooden railway.

Wooden thomas sold by mothercare and only goes on wooden rails.

Bloody annoys me the way they have several different tracks and trains out, the poor kids cant discriminate between what goes ith their set and what doesn't. Not to mention some kindhearted person giving a set and its completely different to what you've already accumulated.
