£28 for a two pack of PJs???? They are for sleeping in fgs! I'm all for the odd boden top (if they are such good quality they can be handed down etc) but honestly, £28 for PJs for small children - the phrase 'more money than sense' springs to mind!

How much?!

Tesco are great! DS2 is currently wearing a pair of Tesco PJ's that we were given by my cousin when DS1 was little - so 3 owners on!

Enid · 13/09/2005 17:40

my two do have a couple of tescos pjs but I think they are grim, thin and cheap looking

QueenOfQuotes · 13/09/2005 17:41

oh and DS1 is now 5 - so these PJ's are about 8yrs old (omg how cheap does that make me sound LOL).

flamesparrow · 13/09/2005 17:42

The cheap tesco ones seem to last fine for me - I don't have the money to find out how nice the others may be

Enid · 13/09/2005 17:42

ah they were probably made better in those days QofQ

Skate · 13/09/2005 18:05

It doesn't bother me if they are thin and cheap - they are only for wearing in the dark! Nobody sees them!

MT
Have to say very little from there is good for me - I'm the wrong shape/size, but my sister who earns a very meagre wage and is a trim size 12-14 has little choice but to shop there, and she looks great! Not too bad for the kids either. I feel it's wrong to comment so negatively on the people who shop there, whether or not you like the clothes.

wait for the sale skate

spidermama · 13/09/2005 18:43

I agree that's expensive but they go on and on to the next child and the one after that. Some of mine (my mum bought for me) are on their fourth child and still the colours are bright and the seams are straight.

Skate · 13/09/2005 21:53

Have just done a big Boden order!! I'm not objecting to good quality daywear at perhaps more expensive prices - I agree tesco clothing does not last. It's just PJs - I couldn't justify that price for something only worn in the dark!

People keep telling me Boden can be handed down so I'm hoping the stuff I've ordered will be - got 3 boys - what a bonus!

I havent read the whole thread but i would guess many of those who are prepared to pay £28 for pjamas are those who dont like primark - see other current thread!!!!!!!!

Personally ill stick with what i can afford

Skribble · 13/09/2005 22:29

What makes you think the boden ones are not produced in a sweatshop? Do they have a fair trade policy.

laughinglil · 14/09/2005 09:02

not to be rude to all you boden fans out there but what is so special about it? I have never found anything I like for my two!

Enid · 14/09/2005 09:17

I know that the English made Boden stuff is made here, for a good price, supporting British manufacturing.

If you buy cheap clothes you can be sure someone is getting shafted somewhere along the line. But our obsession with cheapness is why the manufacturing industry in this country is dying on its feet.

tiredemma · 14/09/2005 09:22

£28 !!!!!

what are they made by mice and threaded with gold or something???

i dont even spend that on my bedwear, never mind my kids!!

Could I ask Boden buyers as an act of kindness to flog any 2nd hand (OK, 5th hand) stuff on this site??? [cheap and grasping emoticon]

laughinglil · 14/09/2005 09:30

i like the white company too!

ssd · 14/09/2005 09:35

I got the Boden catalogue in a few weeks ago and thought the stuff in it was really frumpy and mumsy looking. And the kids stuff didn't look anything special either. A bit like the hype surrounding Cath Kidson stuff, overpriced and over hyped.

flamesparrow · 14/09/2005 09:44

Those who say Tesco's clothes don't last - what do your kids do to them?

Genuinely interested.

DD is a climber, and spends all her time in mud, so her clothes are constantly being dragged across everything in sight, and being washed. Apart from the odd t-shirt that is completely stained (which would happen anywhere), all her things are still in good condition and ready for use with the next one.

The only clothes I can think of that have completely died have been Asda babygros, and they kept bursting at the seams.

flamesparrow · 14/09/2005 09:45

It was more a case of what happens to the clothes (holes in knees, faded beyond belief etc) rather than sounding like there are children chopping them up with scissors

Headache and words coming out all silly.

I've bought those pyjamas I'm afraid! DS was looking very sweet in the dinosaurs last night.

I have boden pjs that I bought for dd 6 years ago, which have now done dd, ds1 and ds2 and which will be absolutely fine for dd2 when she is born (and is wearing 12 - 18mths!). They just go on and on and on. Pale blue with white spots - nicely unisex.
I'm not sure dd2 will want to wear the dinosaurs when she is 5, however, but I didn't know she was going to be a girl then, and wouldn't have bought them if I didn't know they would have done for ds2 as well.
