Yay for the typeface (serif rocks), the big picture in the centrefold, but the itsy-bitsy G2 feels all wrong

There's a bit of a freesheet feel to it [worried]

i thought it looked odd i must admit

ediemay · 12/09/2005 15:33

I like it, it feels fresh & quite funky - like the lower case title. G2 to me feels a bit like the tabloid Times/indy but much better page layouts

Lio · 12/09/2005 15:37

Thumbs up from my office

marthamoo · 12/09/2005 15:49

Damnit, I forgot to pick one up today.

harpsichordcarrier · 12/09/2005 15:59

much as I hate to admit it I quite like the new format (was determined not to) but I think I will miss so many of the things that there is "no room" for e.g. the radio review, passnotes, the mobile phone photo competition... also it will annoy me to have to keep seraching for things.
only time will tell...

ediemay · 12/09/2005 16:01

I'll miss passnotes & radio reviews too - wwill they be online?

harpsichordcarrier · 12/09/2005 16:04

don't know - don't think so, but I never go on-line so I am probably not the best person to ask.

dinosaur · 12/09/2005 16:42

I like it but I didn't quite feel as if I was reading the Guardian, iyswim!

I think it looks great and the photos are awesome.

Didn't get on to the G2 bit on my way in this morning, so no opinion on that yet.

yoyo · 12/09/2005 17:18

Excellent in my opinion. Really well set out. Picture quality fantastic, font size and typeface good. I really dislike the cluttered masthead though. Barcode in centre looks ugly too.

GeorginaA · 12/09/2005 17:25

I like it - much more manageable and I'd forgotten how much I preferred the Guardian to the Times (had switched for my occasional paper because the Times was more manageable at the dinner table!)

mommie · 12/09/2005 17:37

still prefer broadsheets - you get the sense you are reading something serious.

GeorginaA · 12/09/2005 17:45

Oh, I do have one complaint. While they were spending ALL that money on new printing machinery and technology to make it all colour.... couldn't they have invested in an ink that didn't come off on your hands?!
