Nintendo DSi - Games advice

I have finally succumbed and bought one for my 8 year old dd1. Now, I need to work out what games to get? I'm quite a boring mummy and would like some 'educational' games. Ideally some would get her to do some maths in a fun way which she struggles with at school. Also games which make her do a lot of reading would be good.

Does anybody have any suggestions for me? Would be much appreciated.

Animal Crossing has quite a bit of reading in it. Second Junior Brain Training and Professor Layton.

Thank you. We've got Animal Crossing and Brain Training for the Wii. I'm going to investigate Professor Layton.

Belo, I just logged on to start same thread! Have also given in and ordered DSi's for DD's aged 5 & 7 for Christmas but am also after educational type games. Will watch this thread with interest.

From my own browsing on Amazon one of the games I like sound of the most is "The Magic Faraway Tree Interactive book". I've just ordered it. I'll post back and let you know what I think.

I've had a look at the Professor Layton games - they look good. Seona1973 and VivaLeBeaver - is there one of the games which is better then the others?

Will await your review! We don't have a Wii so are at an advantage I guess in that we can choose some of those games too.

Scribblenauts which I have probably spelled wrong.

Animal Crossing, Prof Layton 1-3, and hows about a nice RPG like Dragon Quest IX or The World Ends With You, I'd also recommend Browsers inside story, Hotel Dusk, Lost in Blue 2, Elite Beat Agents (personally I prefer the Japanese versions), Mario Kart and Kirby Power Paintbush.

She's 8 let her have some fun.

Bumping for more ideas!
Just looking online for games and liked the idea of Brain Trainer, but it gets some bad reviews?
