Toasters and Kettles

Afternoon all

My dad managed to melt some plastic in our toaster at the weekend so we now need a new toaster and our kettle is just shit!

So can you recommend me a new toaster and kettle.

We like our Magimix kettle, but it's not cheap.

We also like our Tefal Avanti toaster, which isn't as pricey.

We have a cream enamelled prestige kettle that is good and a dualit toaster which is even better (both not cheap though!)

The only advice I can give you when buying a toaster is to draw around a slice of bread onto some cardboard, cut it out and take it to the shop to test out the size of the slots in each toaster. For some completely unfathomable reason, modern toasters, especially the cheaper ones, seem to only accommodate the short side of a slice of bread, squared. So you end up with a strip of bread down the side of your toast, which drives me mad!

I have this one now, it fits a whole slice of bread in at once - was the cheapest one I could find. It's a bit slow though. (Although maybe I'm just ridiculously fussy when it comes to toasters!)

Thanks, trouble is Bertie I love the idea of a Dualit one but really cannot justify the price, and theres no way DH would go for it!

I'm kind of hoping people would recommend another one that looks as nice - I know it only toasts bread but the bloody thing is out all the time so I would like a nice looking one!

We have the 4 slice one of those toasters Bertie, its good, just bored of it now
