I'm told that children are allowed to formal dinners on our cruise. so I need a VERY NICE smart shirt for ds (age 6 years, size 7 years)

We have 10 days before we go ARRRRRRRGH!

I guess it'll cost me an arm & a leg too.

Charles Tyrwhitt (which isn't how you spell it I suspect) does fabulous smart shirts for small boys. Otherwise Gap can surprise you.Ds is wearing a v smart white shirt from the Gap today.

One of the designer at Debenhams range?
Or I have a rough idea that you are in range of Meadowhall? Because there is a little shop in the Lanes there that does smart/formal clothes for children. It is at the far end and does christening clothes but also clothes for older children.

Charles tyrwhitt shirts are loveley, aloha and I might send for 1 or 2, but they are all coloured. Ideally I want a white pintucked shirt, like Daddy's. My mums friend has sent ds a bow-tie!!

BHS may have some in their wedding section.

John Lewis does them I think.

Think they may do the type of thing you are after Easy. I got my DS outfitted for my sister's wedding there - with tie, waistcoast etc but he was younger (2) and I don't think they had dress shirts going into such a small size.

Been to John lewis this afternoon. They tried to flog me a plain, lilac shirt

A wedding shop ?

I think you need a bar mitzvah sort of shop. The Fenwicks in Brent Cross has the most dazzling display of minute tuxes you could imagine.

Otherwise the French mail order outfit Cyrillus used to do haute children's stuff in its Artur et Felice (sp?) range. Nice shirts for boys, formal like good men's office suit shirts, but maybe not quite formal enough for what you're looking for?

jollymum · 07/09/2005 18:05

John Lewis in Solihull have little white shirts and , get this, tiny pin striped suits. My two with me aged 15 and 12 were not happy with me cooing over them and wishing they were little again. If you need one, I could maybe get you one?
