What sort of light do I need to get so that DD1 can read in bed?

She's 6.5 and she has a lamp on her bedside table but it's a kid's one I got when she was little and it's too dim.

I could replace that, but thought some sort of specific reading light might be better. I want something plug-in, not wire-in - something to go on the wall or clip onto the end of the bed maybe?

Anyone got anything good they can recommend?

cant she just turn her main light on?

That's such a MN answer :)

Yes of course that's what she does just now but she likes to read till she's falling asleep, and if she then has to get out of bed to switch her light off it wakes her up.

I've ordered her one of these.

DS has one of these that is attached to the wall above his bed. Its just the right amount of light to read but not so bright that its harsh and wakes him up to much iyswim.

Its a very 'lulling' light!

We have 'touch lamps' on the DSs bedside tables. They switch on when any part of the lamp is touched and repeated touching makes them brighter up to 3 levels then the fourth touch switches them off.

Easy to operate, no fiddly switch and safe.

Thanks LastOrders - though that looks about the same level of light as the one she's already got, and as she's reading paperbacks with small print I think she needs something a bit brighter/directional. She'll be directing it just at the page and switching it off when she's ready to sleep so it's ok if it's bright.

And thanks BB. I've ordered the Bunky Bunk now so hope it works out ok! :)
