Boring question about batteries

We need lots of D cell ones - where's the best place to buy (high street or online)? I don't want rubbish ones so is there anywhere to get good quality ones that aren't going to cost a fortune. Weighed up the cost of 12 Duracell D cell batteries in Tesco this morning and winced a bit...

Type in "batteries online" in google, and you get loads of uk online battery sellers, so you can compare to your heart's content. I bought some specialist ones from an online retailer in Newcastle a couple of years ago, they were very satisfactory.

i got some from halfpriceorless.com (the shop, same chain as home bargains). they were duracells and really cheap. but when i got them home not one of them worked (dp tested them with his electrical techy tester thing). so cant really help with where to buy them, but can tell you where not to go!
