Digital Camera for young child

Back in Feb this year, DS was given a disposable camera at a wedding. He loved it and the pictures were brill which was a big surprise.

He will be 5 in a couple of weeks and we have decided to get him a cheap digital camera for his birthday. Jessops have them for about £50 - we figure it is cheap enough not to matter if it gets lost or broken eventually but will save a furtune in film and developing (equivalent to about 4 disposable cameras), he can print out any pics he likes and we can ditch any rubbish.

Before we go ahead just wondered if anyone else knew of anywhere doing cheap digital cameras so we can compare, or even better if anyone knew of a digital camera designed specifically for kids. Don't understand why no-one has done this yet as you can get a huge range of normal cameras for children.

Thanks.

Brilliant idea, Katherine! Can't help with advice though, I would like a digital camera myself but there are so many it makes my brain hurt reading about them.

I think a cheap "adult" camera is probably a better bet than a children's camera though, the outsides may be plain but the insides are probably superior.

There's a Barbie one available but I can't see your DS being too impressed with that!

And I found this review .

Thanks DebL - they had one which was perfect. Ordered now. Cheers
