Do your children have themed bedrooms?

......and if so, what are they?

A friend of mine kitted her son's room out as Buzz Lightyear and he walked in and said he didnt like Buzz anymore!

This has made me think.

Ds wanted Buzz, then Scooby Doo (!!) and now Dinosaurs! I do think he would like a Dino room as he loves them a lot. I thought I would paint the room a plain colour and have plain curtains and then put up some posters of dinos and get him a quilt cover. Any other cheap dino ideas?

What rooms do your children have? Do you regret it or do they still like them?

I love themed rooms for young kids.

My ds had winnie the pooh as a baby and now he has bob the builder, the room is all painted yellow then he has blue bob curtains and a bob the builder border round the middle of the walls. We have also put the foam bob people like dizzy and scoop all on the walls and he has bob duvet set. we have a moon light and star light on each wall (from ikea) which he has on when he goes to bed. In my opinion this really does look nice and people always comment on it.
He loves his room

Not themed as such
Sky blue walls.
A border from homebase - with 4 animals on it - giraffe, elephant, leopard & zebra.
Yellow curtains to match yellow on border & to brighten up.
Nothing major.
Can easily be changed in a few years.
DS now 19 mths.

oh and i forgot, the ceiling in DD's bedroom has glow in the dark stars on it.

Hulababy · 01/09/2005 17:26

When we move DD is very keen to have a pink princess bedroom, and I figure - she's only 3, it's only paint and a few bits and bobs, so why not. She's already got some of the stuff. The rest is not expensive particualrly. If she grows tired of it in a couple of years, so what - I'll repaint.

And she is so girly. So it'll be pink glittery walls, pink curtains, pink princess bedding, pink bed canopy, etc with some princess stickons/pictures.

It's the only room that won't be painted cream/white so one room is fine for me Besides it's her bedroom. I like plain rooms. She's 3 - she doesn't! She certainly doesn't care if it is naff or whatever. LOL! She wants pink and fun and glitter. I am enjoying the fun, girly bits whilst I can. She'll be grown up in no time and I will be longing for them then.

Hated plain white to begin with but actually became quite refreshing after a while and we are neutralising our own house now. Miss the blackout from shutters, we now all wake up at the crack of dawn - aargh. Also miss hard flooring throughout as it was so much easier to clean and lighter.

nutcracker · 01/09/2005 17:30

I know Cod, she even cried about it one night when she was going to bed

I have all the stuff just need the enthusiasm.

Hulababy · 01/09/2005 17:31

Hausfrau - all our walls here in our apartment are white. I love it. Unfortunately the new place is automatically that magnolia colour. Think a big tub of white will be coming out very soon after moving if I have my own way.

starshaker · 01/09/2005 17:39

dd will (when we get round to it) have a diseney princess room she will have pink and lilic walls a pic that swiperfox has kindly said she would do then bits and pieces her bedding to start with will be pink hearts bed in a bag thing from mothercare

katzguk · 01/09/2005 17:55

Lizzylou - we did it ourselves! hence posting pictures of it! i'm very proud!

I have decided after all these posts that I will stick to the idea of having a plain room with a dino quilt and a few dino posters and I am sure he will be delighted with it.

Any dinosaur ideas I could put on the wall as well?

littlesteppers · 01/09/2005 20:01

sorry, didnt realise how dreadful my spelling was

fqueenzebra · 01/09/2005 22:09

If you enjoy it fine, but don't you have to change it every couple of years as they get older & you get bored with it?

Whole discussion kind of a different planet for us, anyway.

My kids don't even sleep in their bedrooms... and DH & I both hate decorating. So chances of us coordinating the "decor" in any of the kid's rooms, hahahahahhahahahahahaa.....

nikkie · 01/09/2005 22:19

dd1- will have(when it is finished) a princess room(no disney though!) 4 poster bed , pink chandelier, and lots of pink!
dd2- has plainer room with some flowers(she is not really interested in decor.

elastamum · 01/09/2005 22:45

My youngest has a 'dump' themed room as he keeps hoarding things and taking them upstairs! We are going to have a tidy up when he goes to school next week.
DS1 had action man - not very PC - but it is now covered with skateboard posters, we let them stick up pretty much what they like on the walls, it looks a bit untidy but it is all their own work and they love doing a bit or redecorating.

liandme · 01/09/2005 22:48

my dd did have bob the builder, then we moved and she had winnie the pooh, then we moved and she had princess, then we moved her and she had the little room doe out in fairies and now she is waiting for me to clear the big from for her and sd to have groovy chick. i like decorating so i dont mind how many times she changes her mind

sansouci · 01/09/2005 22:50

oh, i am so tired of pink! pink, pink, pink... argh. why do most little girls like pink so much?

Monstersmum · 02/09/2005 09:03

Well DS's room is sort of themed - pale blue walls and dark blue Ikea curtains. Transport "wallies", some car posters, a big Peter Rabbit cross stitch pic I did when pregnant - no doesn't fit in with theme but took so long to do he's having it!!) and a car/transport duvet. Plain wood furniture.

You can get dinosaur wallies - just type "wallies" into search engine and you should fine them - you just wet them and stick them on. We have them in playroom and lots of people have asked if I painted them! They are cute.
