DS too tall for a mini micro scooter

Sorry, another scooter topic again! Wink

My 3yr old DS is tall for his age - 104cm. He's never had his own scooter but has a little go on friend's. (He's keen to have his own as he sees it as a way to develop the skills he needs to skateboard, something he's mad about but can't yet do.)

My dilemma: do I get him a mini micro or go straight to a maxi micro? As they're so expensive, we need to get mileage out of it!!! Grin

Actually, I say he's 3 but he's 4 at the end of next month!!!

Check on the micro scooters website - they give weight recommendations for each product there. I'd be tempted to go straight for the Maxi though; saw them lined up next to the Minis in John Lewis the other day, and it looks like the lowest height setting for the Maxi's handlebar is the same as the Mini's fixed height if you see what I mean...

Has anyone you know got a Maxi so that you could see if he is able to use a two wheel scooter, or could you ask a mum in the local park if you could use their child's for a moment.

as the only way you might be confident with your choice is to be able to try it out first.

this was how I knew that DS1 was ready for a micro mini soon after he turned 2,

IWillNot, the Maxi isn't a two-wheeler, it's got three wheels like the Mini, but with a height-adjustable handlebar and designed for older kids (think it can even take adults?).

Thanks for the replies. My gut feeling is to go with the maxi but wanted to hear your comments/experiences.

IWill, I did ask a child with a maxi if my DS could have a go and was met with some verbal! Shock He's had a little go on a micro but mainly just pushes it while walking along side it, so not much help to me! He said he'd wait until he was 4 to ride on a scooter because that's when he's hoping to get his own! Confused.
