startrite or clarks?

help me decide!

also - for out of school shoes what do you tend to buy and from where. Boys I'm thinking of. Want something trendy/fashionable for ds1 out of school but still good for his feet. Also need school shoes - always go to clarks but hate it!

I like Clarks for boys and Startrite for girls.

I think Startrites look and feel much sturdier and stronger than Clarks, I have used both in past. Clarks for girls this season has quite a poor choice of shoes IMO. I settled on Startrite this time. Can't help with biys shoes though, sorry.

DD not old enough for school, sorry.

Well normally I would say Clarks as I used to work for them but...

thsi year it will be startrite as their range is rubbish especially the boys.

It seems to be either black school shoes or trainers. No in between unless you have a toddler.

I like the little brown ones for boys - too small for ds1 but ds2 would look gorgeous in those!

Hmmm, yes, I think the brown would look funky on a girl too but I can see why your dd wanted pink! They are a cool pink, not a sappy pink!

Just don't know what to do about ds1's out of school shoes - trainers or trendy boots/shoes? Tbh, I don't really like trainers - they are naff unless doing sport imo!

Well I was told (and it appears to be true) that the dye in Startrites goes right thru the leather, so when scuffed, they don't show white underneath, so less noticeable. With Clarks, it's not the case

Was definitely true on DDs patent shiny ones.

Clarks Outlet here for DS cos he has bog standard feet, and Startrite for DD cos she has long, narrow feet courtesy of MIL.

I loathe the manageress of our local Clarks, so make a point of always using the Outlet instead.
