Does anyone have either the current model 2010 or preceding model. We are looking to buy and wonder what they are like. As with everything reviews on the web are very mixed.

Well equipped

Gas guzzler

Not good in snow/ice

No, but we live in a rural area where petrol costs and ice/snow are an important factor for us.

Would go for the 2.8 turbo diesel over the 3.8 petrol V6 on cost but it doesn't have much poke going up hills for such a big engine - and on the hills is where problems arose when icy too. Dh felt it steered like a barge which is a bit harsh but it has loads of space, far more than most. Also has lots of excellent kit although inside a bit plasticy perhaps?

Dh reminds me there is/ or was the LPG version to give better mpg.

Alternatives? I like the Galaxy Ghia, but also SMax, Grand Espace Dynamique, Citreon C8 exlusive, Peugoet 807,Volkwagon Sharan

Friend yesterday was saying that it's very comfortable ride; they (6 people) do a lot of long-distance driving and are very happy with it for that.... but a guzzler like someone else said.
