Can anyone recommend some? He's wanted them for ages. And do I really need to kit him out with knee/elbow pads? He has a helmet.

we got some for DS from INDEX iirc

they are NOT in line ones

What size shoe? Argos or JB sports do them starting about size 13, but my 5yo is only size 10-11; I haven't found any proper skates that small. WE got some adjustable size inline-style ones (they wear their ordinary shoes inside) from Argos. Pretty rubbish, but best we could do!

I found that hire places do usually have size 10, though.

if you wanna toughen him up then no safety gear , but then he may end with scarred knees like me, so i would go with the safety pads. he can hide them under tousers and long sleeved tops in the colder months, but you wilkl end up with holes in his clothes.

cheers, he's a size 12. what r in line ones? I'm totally ignorant about stuff like this. DS1 was never interested.

you're welcome

DS ones are SKAIGHT boots ankle high with removable sock insert thingy

fqueenzebra · 28/08/2005 21:35

inlines is all 4 wheels are in one line, Rollerblades, that kind of thing.

"Quads" are traditional type skates, one wheel in each corner under each boot.

Oooh.... you can get trainers with little wheels under them now, very hip among teens, I think!

I broke my arm skating, big vote for wrist guards as most important, then knee pads if he's skating outside. Elbow pads not so important.

cheers fqueenzebra.
