ds1 is going camping next month with cub scouts. the list they gave is huge, and in the local outdoorsy shop, the stuff ccosts a fortune. im a complete camping virgin, have never been in my life. and im sure that all campers dont fork out those sort of prices, was wondering if anyone knew where to get reasonably priced sleeping bags/ groundsheets etc.

dd went on brownie camp this year, we already had a sleeping bag, but for a groundsheet we used a big plastic wrapper off a large parcel, any long length of plastic would do, I made the crockery bag and wash bag out of some old off cuts of fleece, used nailvarnish on cheap plastic plates and cup (woolworths) etc etc. Do you have a millets near you, they might be cheaper for sleeping bags ?
For a sit mat, we used newspaper stuffed inside a Tesco bag, then decorated by dd.
