Infant rocking chair or swing?

Ladies,

Am first time mum to be and would appreciate any advice if you think it is better to purchase a table-top swing (I like the FP Open top take away) or a rocker chair for a baby?
Do they serve the same function?

I know each baby's preferences is different which makes it all the more difficult!

We have two large dogs so we would only do a swing or rocker which can sit on a table or counter. Understand batteries are a huge drain.

I'd go for the on with the gratest swinging movement as you'll find it a good way of getting baby to sleep! So I guess that means I'd say go for a swing.
