New partner

Hi,

I have been divorced for a few years now and recently became involved with a new partner whom I've known for years as friends. For context, I am 52, he is 55. Neither of us have had sex for a large number of years and it's been great rekindling that side of our lives.
The problem is, he can get an erection but can't seem to finish. He's not on any medication, so just wondering what I can do to help him.
Any advice appreciated.

The longer he's been single the tighter the grip on his penis when he masturbates. It'll take no masturbating and time for the nerves in his penis to return to some sort of normality.
This is the reason you hear of men finishing themselves off after performing PIv. If you're okay with this then let him or let him withdraw and you finish him off.

I’m not sure where @tanoshi is getting their information from. It doesn’t feel a helpful reply. Complete codswallop. The usual applies - talk to your partner, take your time, explore each others likes. It could be a bit of performance anxiety on his part. If he gets erections that’s a great start. It could be he is feeling overwhelmed and doesn’t want to disappoint which can be a self fulfilling prophecy. He clearly desires you so take it from there - good luck!

Take time it is always right the first times

Mid 50s it could be lower testosterone kicking in. Tbh, like women getting older, it isn't as straightforward as it was when they were 20. If he can orgasm through masturbation maybe you could help him, kissing, sucking his nipples or whatever. Be open minded and relaxed about it.

I think you need to just take your time working out what works for you both.
I've been with my partner (we are both similar ages to you two) for nearly 4 years now and he is still finding ways to may me cum. He sometimes doesn't cum. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why this is the case. Sometimes he has to help (because my jaw hurts 😁) and I love watching him instead. He very rarely finishes inside me.
Does it bother your partner OP?

I think he's getting frustrated because he says he is very close but just can't get over the edge. I feel bad for him, he's so attentive towards me.

could be several reasons- but try not to let it bother you or him as he may be overthinking- as a precaution get him to have a PSA test as a 1st step

I'm sure that the more frustrated he gets the less likely he is to cum?
Can he finish himself off with you there?

OMGDidYouSayThat · 18/10/2026 23:19

I guess it's better than the alternative which is premature ejaculation, can he cum with oral? Have you tried going on top to see if that makes any difference? or maybe turn around so he can watch the full show...

He tried this at the weekend, unfortunately that didn't work either...I'm wondering if that suggests it's psychological.
