Been with DH over 20 years and sex has got a bit repetitive. We’ve been trying to spice it up a little bit which we’re both up for.

However, two things have been causing us pause for thought. Basic cock rings work like a 1-way valve allowing blood to pump in to the penis but restricts the flow out leading to a very full erection.

When I've tried them its almost impossible for me to orgasm while wearing it as the sensation soon numbs the area.

You could try a vibrating cock ring, try him seated on a kitchen chair then ride him face on and position the vibrating ears or buzzy bit (loads of choice) near your clit for double stimulation.

Only caution with cock rings is they recommend not to wear for >15mins due to restriction of blood flow causing problems.

The received wisdom is that PIV orgasms are not available for every woman.
The main purpose of a cock ring is to improve his erection, either in terms of hardness or longevity. If you're getting sore because of the time he takes to cum, that may or may not help you.

If a vibrator works for you, a vibrating cock ring might help.
Alternatively look at other positions: some women report easier PIV orgasms with Doggy, and something like Scissors can allow him to grind more against your clit (and remember that's not just the exposed tip).

you could try a different position, maybe on your side or on your front might help
