Embarrassing sex noise with new partner

Nicest man I've ever met. Amazing in bed. However a couple of times when having sex, there has been an awful farting noise 😣 It's really upsetting me, this has never happened before. What could we be doing wrong?

Good sex means your parasympathetic nervous system is driving-sometimes called the “feed and breed” system to contrast it with “fight or flight.” It is entirely possible unguarded farts are escaping from either of you as your digestive system will also be relaxed, or that air is escaping the vagina between thrusts. Try squeezing your pelvic floor more tightly or learn to embrace it.

Thanks for your reply. It's not farts, it's air going in. Then it stays there for ages. Mortifying

Having sex is not a dignified activity. All kinds of weirdness is possible; you're dealing with vigorous movement, bodily fluids, smells, noises, stickiness. You can't be standing on ceremony.

Sorry OP

thesilver · 05/03/2026 13:31

Oh dear! This isn't normal though. It can't be happening to everyone.

It's really really normal. Honest

PaulRevere · 05/03/2026 14:41

It's normal. Annoying but normal. A function of combinations of anatomy and position - always happened with my late boyfriend if we did doggy in certain ways.

AltitudeCheck · 05/03/2026 15:03

It's a queef and quite normal and either funny or mortifying depending on the situation! Very deep thrusts seems to make it more likely, I guess as they maybe push more air in?

Google queefing and you'll be reassured it's v common!

Pigeonpoodle · 06/03/2026 06:36

Me and my DP laugh when this happens… We are having the best sex of our lives, partly because we’re relaxed enough to be able to laugh at such things.

If you can’t relax enough with your new guy to do the same, it doesn’t bode well for your relationship… The more tense you are about your “performance”, the worse your sex will be. Just try and relax and laugh it off - if the new man responds in kind, great. If he doesn’t, then he’s not someone to invest any more time in.

IHE · 06/03/2026 06:39

Perfectly normal, as others have said.
You might find pelvic floor exercises help.

Bloodyboiling · 06/03/2026 11:02

Ah the dreaded fanny farts!

As others have said totally normal and often when having the best sex. Embrace it and just have a laugh about it.

Angela59 · 07/03/2026 08:07

Reassure him just say it’s happening because he’s pushing air in as he’s giving you a jolly good seeing too!

willowstar · 07/03/2026 15:38

This happened to me with a new partner. I just laughed and said something about body music and we carried on. Completely normal. As someone said above, sex isn't dignified.

Fanny Farts! Totally normal.
you’ve just got to embrace them - must be some decent thrusting going on?!

Gamerlady · 08/03/2026 20:00

Got to love a good fanny fart, happens quite frequently, but definitely a passion killer as can't stop laughing afterwards

Oh dear! This isn't normal though. It can't be happening to everyone.

it's only happening because you're open and there is some kind of vigorous repeated in and out. That's not bad. You need to just be able to embrace this. Sex makes you super vulnerable. What is more vulnerable that letting someone inside you? It's really very normal, happens to stacks of people and just ... don't mind. It's ok.
