Temu sex toys advertised on metcheck

Last night my son and I were checking the weather forecast and he suddenly yelled oh my God mum what's that. It was a pic of three graphic sex toys, one with a woman sitting on top of what looked like a dildo.

I don't have any dodgy apps and have googled to find out why this happened. Has anyone else experienced this? I was in shock and then my son who is 13 proceeded to tell me the ads were because of Google searches I've made (not true!!!)

Advice welcome 🙏

At 13 had he been Googling and was embarrased that his mum had found him out?

You don't have to make a specific search.
Google / advertisers / all your social media 'knows' that you are female, your age, all your interests and more. It then 'assumes' that you have the typical interests of women and tries to share adverts that will/might work.
Unfortunately there's a line of companies out there selling sex toys and similar who are paying a fortune to the advertising systems, who then serve the adverts incessantly to you.
Places like Metcheck survive on advertising income. So they take all sorts of adverts.
IMO, and one of the reasons I am off social media (Facebook particularly) is that they also attract dodgy advertisers, and instead of banning them Facebook and some sites charge more for advertisers that break the rules they have. So Facebook and some website get more income by carrying dodgy or inappropriate adverts...

Well, Google Ads know you have been on Mumsnet Sex forum so it made a recommendation based on your browsing history.

And now you're talking about dildos, it will do it more!
