Finding privacy with having kids

DH and I have been struggling with your sex life because we have two son’s 10 & 11. The way the bedrooms are laid out, noise travels easily, and so finding a time where they aren’t in the house and we both are is difficult. We have had a walk in last year, and since got a lock for the door, but DH can’t fully get in the mood because he’s paranoid about sounds. We have tried putting TV on, taking the bed off the wall so no bumping against it but still not great. Any ideas? I don’r want something like this to affect love making

Is there a time when they are engrossed on a Sunday afternoon on their iPads or a movie? If so slip upstairs … go into the bathroom and turn the taps on and have a quickie. The adrenaline of a quickie is something else! If you can’t work from home book an afternoon off and send kids to after school club or something. Also don’t limit yourselves to the bed.

they have playstation but in their rooms which is right next to ours 😵‍💫 the bathroom sounds like a good idea! For me personally, it’s not too big a deal as I’m quite open but hubby is quite paranoid about things like this. I do want to explore more things but hubby is just unsure

@Flybystop I would move the PlayStation downstairs pronto and also get then used to wearing those big headphones!

Perhaps one of the things you have to explore is finding somewhere else? There's a thread on whether it's possible in a car; and plenty on outdoors but both come with risks that aren't worth the hassle. Is there something that's very quiet/unobtrusive you can look for?

I’m like your h- absolutely cannot get in the mood when kids are awake and around. We have daytime dates but I appreciate it’s a luxury and not possible for everyone.

I've got no problem shagging when they're asleep, but I absolutely couldn't go off and have a shag when they're awake destroying the house. We have a lock but don't have the issue of them coming in and they're not on the other side of a wall either so it's easier for us at night

I’m quite an open person too but not so open I wouldn’t mind if my children knew/heard I was having sex 😬

I’m with your husband.

We just do it when my daughter is not at home or is sleeping.
